Introduction

|Moby Dick

Moby Dick, a complete masterpiece and great adventure novel, tells the story of an obsession: after a ferocious sperm whale bites off Captain Ahab’s leg, the Captain pursues it with unrelenting hatred and fury. He brings along sailors who are gradually caught up in the maelstrom of this craze for revenge.

In this captivating, funny tale, filled with a strange wisdom, Melville asks the big questions about human existence and creates a new myth that will live on in human memory: that of the white whale. This new production from Les Vagabonds will take you on a journey to the centre of the ocean, amid the roar of its storms, into the ultimate clash between man and the great white leviathan. In the maelstrom of the human soul, between nightmare and reality, we brush against these fears, these hatreds, these quests and these hopes.

"Moby Dick is the symbol of all things. Is it any wonder, then, that he is being hunted down ferociously?"

|"La Fontaine’s Fables" Are Moving

Come along to rediscover "La Fontaine’s Fables" as you have never seen them before: timeless stories that can shed light on our own era with humour, poetry and perceptiveness.

Ferdinand and Felix, two removal men who are as clumsy as they are incompetent, find an old book that has fallen out of a box. "La Fontaine’s Fables". This magical book will get them to listen to, replay and revisit some of the best-known Fables: "The Fox and the Crow", "The Ant and the Grasshopper", "The Frog and the Ox", "The Tortoise and the Hare" and "The Dog and the Wolf".

The "Fables" will be updated, challenged and explored by our two protagonists, who will learn and become more aware of many things as they interact with the tales. This journey through these stories and time will transform them and change their very destinies.

Age 3 and up

Dates: Wednesday 4 December at 4.30pm, Saturday 7 at 4.30pm, Sunday 8 at 11am and Wednesday 11 December at 6.30pm (55 min)

Directed by Vincent Marguet

|The Adventures of Zeli and Loli

The strange journey of Zeli, Loli and Félicien, interspersed with original songs, will delight children aged 2–10 years old.

Zeli the steam engine talks, sings, moves and belches out smoke.

Goodness me! Loli the doll has been found in Félicien the mechanic’s engine! The little girl who left her behind must be very sad! Félicien and Zeli the steam engine venture out to try and find her and reunite her with her doll. Together, they pass through some wonderful countries and magical places.

A musical tale for young children, an animated steam engine who talks and belches smoke, a somewhat grumpy mechanic and a doll – and not forgetting Arius the magician – sing and dance, leading children along on a magical adventure dotted with educational messages about looking after nature, being careful and – for the really smart ones – how a steam engine works.

Dates: Wednesday 11 December at 4.30pm, Saturday 14 at 11am and 4.30pm, Sunday 15 at 11am (40 min)

Mozart: the whole world knows his name, a musical genius, pianist, violinist and composer. Following his death at the age of 35, he bequeathed to humanity some of the greatest masterpieces in music. However, few people know much about his childhood or adolescence: years of endless travelling, during which Léopold (Wolfgang’s father) showed his prodigious son off to prominent figures across Europe. But these travels also had a significant influence on Mozart’s artistic development, especially this famous first trip to Italy – then the global centre of music – where he met many of the great artists of the era. This concert will be an opportunity to discover some of the major works composed by the teenage Mozart, accompanied by fascinating and often juicy travel stories!Recommended for ages 5 and up1st trip by Mozart and his father to Italy (December 1769 – March 1771)   CastingPhilippe Béran, conductorJoan Mompart, actorEmőke Baráth, sopranoMonte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra
