The fireman / Charlot pompier (1916)
Charlie, a mediocre fireman, is won over by the flames of love, foils an insurance scam and saves Edna's life in a perilous stunt; the film also reveals that the old horse-drawn fire engines were fully equipped with reverse gear.
Easy Street / Charlot policeman (1917)
Charlie decides to get back on the straight and narrow and becomes a policeman. His first job is to clean up Easy Street, a street where chaos reigns and Goliath, an indestructible brute, is the undisputed master. Despite being only 1.65m tall, the frail Charlie manages to keep things in order thanks to his cunning and a severe recklessness.
