Introduction

Dates:

From 8 to 18 July 2025, Tuesday to Friday in the first week, and Monday to Friday in the second week.

Children aged 5 to 8: from 10am to noon

Children aged 9 to 12: from 2pm to 4 pm

Maximum of 25 children per day

Detailed programme:

🎨  Day 1: Colours make my head spin! How does the eye perceive colour?

Children aged 5–8 fill paper circles with primary and secondary colours. Placed on wooden spinning tops, the circles whirl and the magic of colour mixing comes to life. Older children explore optical illusions through the juxtaposition of colourful shapes on an Op Art-style disc!

🤔  Day 2: Colours and emotions. To see red, to turn green with envy, to feel blue…

To see red, to turn green with envy, to feel blue… Children learn to associate dominant colours with different emotions. Using a block of clay, they sculpt an expressive face that represents their favourite feeling.

🎶 Day 3: Sounds and colours. For centuries, scientists and artists have tried to match colours with musical notes.

For centuries, scientists and artists have tried to match colours with musical notes. Children explore the links between rhythm, sound, emotion, and colour through singing, listening, and creative art activities.

👃Day 4: What if colours had a smell? What colour would a particular scent evoke?

What smell does a certain colour bring to mind? Using solid perfumes, younger children create a scented felt herbarium on foam board, while older ones associate a scent with a personal memory and create an artwork inspired by it.

Please note: To ensure children’s safety, the scents used will be solid, not liquid. Please inform us in advance of any known allergies your child may have.

💡 Day 5 (2nd week only): Imagine the Centre Pompidou of the future – a collaborative model will be exhibited in the Grimaldi Forum Monaco's hall.

Using recycled cardboard, coloured paper, mirror adhesive and primary colours, younger children recreate the colourful architecture of the Centre Pompidou. Older children bring the model's interior to life with miniature furniture and decorations made from coloured modelling clay. The finished collaborative model will be displayed in the Grimaldi Forum Monaco’s hall.

To evoke the Mediterranean, means summoning up the extraordinary history of the many great civilisations shaped on its shores over the centuries. But it also means facing up to its future, which is more uncertain than ever. The various pressures associated with its use, population growth, pollution and global warming are all threats to its future, global warming are all threats to its unique biodiversity and ecosystem services. This brand new immersive and interactive exhibition "Méditerranée 2050" aims to encourage visitors to the Monaco ‘s Oceanographic Museum to take a new interest in the Mediterranean and become involved in its protection, through a space-time journey to 2050.

This exhibition, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs with support from SOGEDA Monaco, follows on from a photography competition for young people aged 11 to 25, on the theme of “Monaco’s architectural heritage”. The idea is to get young people involved in protecting Monaco’s heritage and showcase the creativity of the Principality’s young people, and the project is part of the European Heritage Days 2025 programme, running under the theme of architecture. An expert panel of judges selected 15 photographs from the entries received, paying particular attention to the artistic aspect of the young competitors’ work, as well as to their unique perspective on the architectural heritage of their city.A youth panel made up of students from Monaco chose four winning entries from these 15 photographs. These will be on display from 6 June to 5 October 2025 on the Railings in the St Martin Gardens. The exhibition will then travel to Strasbourg in 2026, during Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe.
