Passport - Alexis Michalik

Introduction
Issa, a young Eritrean left for dead in the Calais “Jungle”, has lost his memory. With his passport as the only tangible link to his past, he embarks on a long and hazardous quest to obtain his residence permit, surrounded by his companions in misfortune.
"It is precisely from history that flow identity, heritage and legacy. Who are we? Why were we born here? Where will we go next? I am constantly tormented by all of these questions. History, then, is born of travel. Large migrations of human beings who clash or integrate. Humans have always travelled. Every country, every region, every city is enriched by the contributions of humans. Yet each time there are the same conflicts, the same resentment, the same problems: who was there before? Why should they share? Why should they welcome people from another culture?" Alexis Michalik
