Balanchine - Ratmansky - Goecke
By the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. In collaboration with the Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival. Featuring the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra, conductor: Jesko Sirvend.

Introduction
As spring approaches, Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo are celebrating creation. Monaco will host three world premieres. The first will be presented from 23 to 27 April at the Grimaldi Forum (once again with the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra): Transfigured Night by German choreographer Marco Goecke, who is creating his fourth work for the ballet company. On the same evening, two other highly symbolic works will be performed: The Four Temperaments by George Balanchine, who consistently maintained close links with the Principality, and whose repertoire helped to forge the Ballets de Monte-Carlo’s identity and reputation for excellence.
The Four Temperaments will be revived for the occasion by Patricia Neary, the great Balanchine dancer who has decided to conclude her career by restaging this final piece for Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo. Meanwhile, Alexei Ratmanansky’s Wartime Elegy will be making its entrance into the repertoire of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo. A guest of the world’s greatest ballet companies, including the New York City Ballet, with which he collaborated to produce a series of remarkable works, the Ukrainian choreographer Alexei Ratmansky will offer, with Wartime Elegy, a ballet of enormous sensitivity. The work tackles the war in Ukraine while at the same time celebrating the indomitable joie de vivre of a people.
