We are living in an era where our everyday lives blend reality and virtuality, imagination and contingency; a day-to-day that is made up of games and struggles, screens and networks. A world which mixes the tangibly real and the virtual, where digital calculations interfere with physical sensations.How can this space be depicted? How do we find a proper perspective on it, a representation that matches this new complexity?The history of art reflects this evolution of perspectives, from which we can often draw parallels with the social and political context of an era. The flatness of paintings from the Middle Ages, in which everything seems to be linked, against a unified, symbolic background. The Middle Ages were an era of great spiritual wealth, where the cosmos, nature and humanity were inseparable. The Renaissance, in a quest for precision and aesthetic realism, upended the flat surface of medieval altarpieces in favour of an optical perspective, combining mathematical, architectural and metaphysical research. By the Baroque era, this perfect perspective was overloaded with exaggerated decoration. Our modern sphere is merely another step in the search for a pictorial language that is unique to an era: Impressionism, then in a more striking way pointillism, synthetism, cubism and abstract art.All of this artistic research is inextricably linked to each society’s trends of thought, discoveries and eventsThe New Perspectives exhibition will challenge our reality today.It draws particularly on the link our association has with UNESCO, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary in the Principality this year, and we are getting involved with these commemorations by presenting a project that is international in scope. The project involves setting up an exhibition of works through a virtual, interactive metaverse-space that is connected to artists belonging to committees in several countries.It is an opportunity for retrospective reflection, offering new perspectives on art, culture and education.
