Meeting and screening scheduled on the occasion of the exhibition "Pasolini in Chiaroscuro" presented at the NMNM-Villa Sauber from March 29 to September 29, 2024.
Introduction
Abel Ferrara
Born in 1951, Abel Ferrara grew up in the Bronx and met Nicholas St. John at school, with whom he would write most of his films. He began by making amateur Super 8 films under the pseudonym Jimmy Boy L. until 1979. That year, his career took off with his horror film *Driller Killer*, which caught the attention of William Friedkin and gave him the opportunity to make his second film, *Ms. 45*. In the 1990s, he directed his greatest films, most of them in New York, including: *The King of New York* in 1990, *Bad Lieutenant* in 1992, *The Addiction* in 1995, *The Funeral* in 1996, and *Christmas* in 2001. In 2012, he left New York permanently for Rome, where he made several documentaries before shooting *Pasolini* and *Tommaso*.
