Académie de Danse Princesse Grace

Introduction

The Princess Grace Dance Academy was established in 1975 in response to the wishes of Princess Grace and Prince Rainier III to create an elite school of dance in Monaco.

Initially led by Marika Besobrasova, in 2009 the Academy joined Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, which now incorporate a dance school, a company of 50 dancers and a festival (the Monaco Dance Forum). At the time of this consolidation, H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover appointed Luca Masala to be the Academy’s Artistic Director, at the suggestion of Jean-Christophe Maillot, Choreographer-Director of the Ballets de Monte-Carlo.

The goal is to allow the Academy’s pupils, who come from a variety of countries, to further their training and join an international dance company. The close link to Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo offers pupils the opportunity to become familiar with the professional dance world, to meet artists and to be right at the heart of major cultural events in Monaco. Pupils are thus able to see what their dream looks like in reality.

The multidisciplinary education includes dance classes (taught exclusively by teachers and artists who have had an international career) and academic courses tailored to the different nationalities of the pupils.

The Princess Grace Academy partners with prestigious institutions such as the Prix de Lausanne, at which its pupils regularly excel. Within the school, pupils harbour ambitions not only to become accomplished dancers but also flourishing, well-educated and curious individuals.
