This philosophy drives the Florestan Company and is perhaps what Sacha Guitry wanted to emphasise when writing this play for fans and passionate enthusiasts of theatre such as Prince Florestan of Monaco.

Paul, a theatre buff who dreams of becoming an actor, applies for work at every theatre around, much to the despair of his father, who prefers to see him work at the family DIY shop. The manager of the Variety Theatre asks Paul for help, and the latter’s father, furious, kicks him out.
