[CALL FOR APPLICATION] Photography Competition for 11–25 Year-Olds – Heritage in Danger

PHOTOGRAPHY EXHIBITIONS WRITTEN AND GRAPHIC HERITAGE

The Department of Cultural Affairs is organising the second edition of the photography competition dedicated to 11–25 year-olds, whose theme will be "Heritage in Danger", in line with the 2026 edition of European Heritage Days.

[CALL FOR APPLICATION] Photography Competition for 11–25 Year-Olds – Heritage in Danger

This theme evokes the threats facing our material cultural heritage (e.g. works of art and furniture, architecture, written and graphic works, constructed landscapes, gardens, archaeological sites, etc.) and intangible heritage (e.g. traditions, language, performing arts, rituals and festive events, traditional crafts, gastronomy, etc.) such as climate change, natural disasters, societal changes, urbanisation and mass tourism. It invites candidates to reflect on what Monegasque cultural heritage means to them and to question solutions for preserving it.

This second edition continues to reflect the desire to involve young people in the preservation of Monegasque heritage and to enhance the artistic expression of young people in the Principality.

The panel of experts, composed of Stéphane Bern, an emblematic figure in heritage promotion, internationally renowned photographer and documentary filmmaker Nick Danziger, as well as several personalities from the world of Monegasque culture, will select 15 photographs from the entries and present prizes to three photographers (one in each of the following categories: 11–14 years, 15–18 years, 19–25 years).

Special attention will be paid to the artistic dimension of the photographs submitted, as well as to reflection on the question of heritage in danger.

The selected photographs will be exhibited on the Saint-Martin Gardens Railings from April to October 2026.

The competition is reserved for young people aged 11 to 25, of Monegasque nationality, residents, schooled in the Principality or working in Monaco.

Registration until 15 March 2026 at 11:59 pm.
