ARCHITECTURAL HERITAGE

European Heritage Days are a unique opportunity to discover or rediscover the cultural heritage of the country. This 30th edition will be themed around "Architectural Heritage" which, in Monaco, is rich, varied, and representative of the evolution of architectural practice throughout History.

30th Edition of European Heritage Days

The Principality has participated in this pan-European event since 1996, jointly initiated by the Council of Europe and the European Union. Celebrated by more than 50 countries, Heritage Days attract nearly 30 million visitors each year, gathered around more than 70,000 events.

On the occasion of these Heritage Days, a cross-border itinerary will be organised on Saturday 4 October, with a visit to Villa Eilenroc, a neoclassical villa located at Cape Antibes.

On Sunday 5 October, more than thirty sites and institutions will exceptionally open their doors to visitors, to allow them to discover Monegasque cultural heritage.

Numerous events will punctuate this day, in particular construction site visits, children's workshops at the Costa Studios, to introduce young people to questions of spatiality, as well as architectural walks, which will highlight monuments and anonymous architectures.

This year, the Department of Cultural Affairs and the Heritage Institute will welcome for the first time Jean-Philippe HUGRON, journalist and architectural historian, author of "Architectural Guide to Monaco: Beausoleil – Roquebrune-Cap Martin" (2021), who will present two itineraries: "Art Nouveau, Art Deco, New Modernities" and "In Monaco, the Tradition of Novelty".

The detailed programme for this edition can be found on the event's website: journeepatrimoinemonaco.com
