[Council of Europe] Opening concert of Monaco’s Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe
On Tuesday 26 May, the opening concert of the Monegasque Presidency of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe took place in the Hemicycle of the Palace of Europe in Strasbourg, in the presence of Alain Berset, Secretary General of the Council of Europe, and Samuel Vuelta Simon, Secretary of State for Justice of the Prince's Government.
To open the cultural programme accompanying this Presidency, the Monte-Carlo Spring Arts Festival presented "Thirteen Ways of Being a Blackbird," a work by Benjamin de la Fuente and Samuel Sighicelli, composed on a text by American poet Kate Colby.
Commissioned by the festival, this work blending contemporary, instrumental and vocal influences, had its world premiere on 20 March 2026 at the Théâtre des Variétés in Monaco.
