Médiathèque Caroline

Introduction

Founded in 1909 by the Sovereign Ordinance of Prince Albert I, the public library, renamed Louis Notari in 1980 in honour of the Monegasque poet and grammarian, fulfils more than one role. It's a public library accessible to everyone, offering documentation, information, education, and leisure collections, but also preserves old and precious collections. It has been operating as a national library since 1925.

A vital fixture in Monegasque cultural life, the Multimedia Library of Monaco organises meetings, conferences, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings and literary and photography workshops throughout the year, which have proven highly successful among a wide range of audiences

The Multimedia Library of Monaco is currently spread over four sites

  • The Bibliothèque Louis Notari (Louis Notary Library) - 8 rue Louis Notari
  • The Sonothèque - Vidéothèque (Audio Library and Video Library) - 2, rue Princesse Antoinette
  • The Bibliothèque Princesse Caroline - Ludothèque (Princess Caroline Library - Toys and Games Section) - 1, boulevard Albert Ier
