Monaco's Wedding. The Media Event of 1956

The discovery three years ago of around a dozen boxes containing film reels and offcuts from Jean Masson's "Le Mariage de Monaco" (1956) led to a preservation initiative for this emblematic document, whose distribution across Europe, as well as in the United States and Japan, contributed to the international visibility of the Principality. Alongside the photochemical and digital restoration work carried out in the laboratory, study of the production conditions of this film, which had been unseen since its original cinema release, made it possible to understand both its ambition and the challenges of shooting "live".

The history of this documentary, its restoration and analysis will be at the heart of a film lecture which, alongside other filmed sources, will present for the first time on the big screen, in the Royal Courtyard of the Prince's Palace, the restored 4K version of the film.
