Introduction
"The tension between a vital need for spontaneity in realising my ideas and a pronounced taste for the most rigorous discipline lies at the heart of my artistic process. At the outset, I tended to oscillate between these two poles, unable to make them truly coexist. Today, the synthesis of these apparently contradictory forces constitutes the very foundation of my musical thinking: true freedom is achieved only through the voluntary adoption of the most severe constraints. This essential principle flows through the work of artists who have nourished my reflections, whether from literature, poetry, photography, cinema, painting or architecture. In this lecture, I will describe my process by inviting you to listen to excerpts from certain of my works, and I will also present creations by other artists, to demonstrate how it is possible to achieve this freedom of expression that so many seek" Samuel Andreyev.
A versatile artist, composer, poet and photographer, Samuel Andreyev lives and works between Strasbourg and Kehl. Over thirty years, he has developed a body of work of great refinement, combining imagination and expressive intensity. Active across many fields, he writes for orchestra, soloists, voices and chamber ensembles, while creating albums that blend pop and experimental music. He also composes for film. Recognised for his talent in conveying contemporary creation to a wide audience, his online publications are consistently followed by a large, loyal and enthusiastic following. He is frequently invited to teach throughout Europe. He has been a member of the Musical Advisory Board of the Prince Pierre Foundation of Monaco since 2018.
